Carl Wilson, former chief of staff to Councilmember Erik Bottcher, has won the special election for NYC Council District 3, covering the West Village, Chelsea, and Hell’s Kitchen. According to City & State New York, Wilson captured roughly 43% of first-choice votes, defeating Mayor Mamdani’s endorsed candidate, Lindsey Boylan, and will become the fifth openly gay member to represent the district — continuing a proud tradition of LGBTQ+ leadership in the home of the Stonewall Inn.
