Registering to Vote
Check your registration (and party) at NYC Board of Elections / NYC Votes. If you have a valid ID from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, you can also register to vote online.

  • Registration deadline (online or by mail) for the Primary Election: June 13, 2026.

  • Registration deadline (in-person at your Board of Elections) for the General Election: October 24, 2026.


Absentee Voting (Vote by Mail)
For the Primary Election on June 23, 2026:

  • Last day to apply online/mail for a mail ballot: June 13, 2026.

  • Last day to apply in person at your county Board of Elections: June 22, 2026.

  • Last day to postmark your absentee ballot: June 23, 2026 (Election Day) — and your ballot must be received no later than 9 pm on Election Day if dropped off locally.

For the General Election on November 3, 2026:

  • Last day to apply online/mail for a mail ballot: October 24, 2026 .

  • Last day to apply in person at your county Board of Elections: November 2, 2026.

  • Last day to postmark your absentee ballot: November 3, 2026 (Election Day) — and your ballot must be received no later than 9 pm on Election Day if dropped off locally.

If you have already requested an absentee ballot:
• Track the status of the absentee ballot you requested here. The system updates every 24 hours, and applications may take up to 72 hours to appear.
• Please call 1-866-868-3692 or email AbsenteeHelp@boe.nyc with questions. Assistance is available in multiple languages.
• If you don’t feel comfortable mailing your ballot or can’t drop it off in-person, Invisible Hands volunteers will deliver your ballot for free! Click here to request a volunteer.

New York State voters who requested an Absentee Ballot can still vote in-person but are no longer permitted to cast a ballot on a voting machine. To vote in-person, you must request an Affidavit ballot at early voting or election day poll sites.


Early Voting

For the Primary Election:

Early Voting for the NYC Primary Election will run from Saturday, June 13  through Saturday, June 20. Early voting sites may be different from your Election Day poll site, so make sure to check WhosOntheBallot.org for your poll site before you go to the polls. Hours vary by day, so please plan ahead. Also, your early voting location may have changed from past elections, so verify your early voting poll location before going to vote.

For the General Election:

Early Voting for the NYC General Election will run from Saturday, October 24 through Saturday, November 3. Early voting sites may be different from your Election Day poll site, so make sure to check WhosOntheBallot.org for your poll site before you go to the polls. Hours vary by day, so please plan ahead. Also, your early voting location may have changed from past elections, so verify your early voting poll location before going to vote.

  • Early voting period: Saturday, October 24 through Sunday, November 3, 2026.

  • Typical hours (varies by site – check closer to date):

    • Saturday/Sunday: 9 AM–5 PM

    • Weekdays: Some sites open later/close later (e.g., 10 AM–8 PM)


On Election Day

  • Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

  • Polls open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
