2025 NYC Local Election Important Dates
Early Voting begins next week, Saturday June 14 and will run until Sunday June 22. Early voting sites may be different from your Election Day poll site, so make sure to check WhosOntheBallot.org before you go to the polls. Hours vary by day, so please plan ahead. Also, your early voting location may have changed from past elections, so verify your location before going to vote.

Sunday, June 22 – 9AM to 5PM
WhosOntheBallot.org is ready with all of the information you need to prepare and stay informed for the June 24th primary, which will determine candidates for NYC Mayor, Comptroller, Public Advocate, City Council and other local offices. Visit WhosOntheBallot.org to check your voter registration, early voting poll location, election day poll location and set a calendar reminder for election day. Just put in your address to find out who is on your ballot and get links to all the candidates’ websites so you can be informed before voting. You can also find your sample ballot here, which shows exactly what your ballot will look like in your election district.
Register to Vote Voter registration can be submitted through June 14th, and you will be able to vote in the primary if you enroll in a political party. You can register to vote HERE.
Change Your Party Affiliation? Any voter with a registered party affiliation (that has a competitive primary) can vote in their party’s primary. The deadline for changing your party affiliation for the June primary has passed. If you wish to change your party affiliation in order to be eligible to vote in next years primary elections, you can do so HERE.
ABSENTEE VOTING: Requesting a Mail-in Ballot
The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot for the primary is June 14th, 2025. The online portal to request an absentee ballot and/or a downloadable application form to mail-in can be found here. If you need to request an Accessible Ballot, click here.
Track the status of the absentee ballot you requested here. (The system updates every 24 hours and applications may take up to 72 hours to appear.)

Due to a recent change in the law, New York State voters are no longer permitted to cast a ballot on a voting machine if they have requested to vote by Absentee Ballot. If you have changed your mind and want to vote in-person, voters who have requested to vote by Absentee Ballot can still vote in-person using an Affidavit ballot at early voting or election day poll sites.
