Candidate Forums this Week (August 11 – 17)

There are a number of Candidate Forums being held this week:

  • Monday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m.: The first Official Debate Program for citywide candidates kicks off with a Democratic Comptroller Candidate Debate. The debate will be shown on NY1 (English) and NY1 Noticias (Spanish) and will be aired on WNYC radio. Sponsors include: NY1, NY1 Noticias, Citizens Committee of New York City, Citizens Union, Gothamist, Hispanic Federation, Transportation Alternatives, and WNYC.  You can watch footage from last Friday’s Comptroller Debate here
  • Monday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m.: Mt Lebanon Baptist Church is hosting a City Council District 36 Candidate Forum on education issues. The forum will be held at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church 228 Decatur Street (at Lewis Ave) in Brooklyn. 
  • Tuesday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m.: WABC-TV, Noticias Univision 41, the New York Daily News, and the League of Women Voters of New York City are hosting a Democratic Mayoral Candidate Debate. Watch the debate on WABC-TV 7 or Noticias Univision 41 or online here. Submit questions using this form (enter “mayor debate question” in the subject field).
  • Wednesday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m.: VOCAL-NY, The Brooklyn Reform Coalition, and The Brooklyn Young Democrats are hosting a Brooklyn District Attorney Candidate Forum. The event will be held at St. Francis College at 180 Remsen St., Brooklyn.  
  • Thursday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m.:  The first Official Debate for Democratic Candidates for Public Advocate will be held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The debate will be shown on NY1 (English) and NY1 Noticias (Spanish) and will be aired on WNYC radio.  Sponsors include NY1, NY1 Noticias, Citizens Committee of  New York City, Citizens Union, Gothamist, Hispanic Federation, Transportation Alternatives, and WNYC. 
  • Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 p.m.: The Food Bank for New York City and New York Common Pantry are hosting a Manhattan Borough President Candidate Forum. The event will take place at New York Common Pantry located on 8 East 109th Street, New York, NY 10029. Register here.

  • Monday, August 19 at 6:30 p.m.: The Food Bank for New York City and Jewish Community Center of Staten Island are hosting a New York City Council District 50 Candidate Forum. The event will be held at the Jewish Community Center of Staten Island, 1466 Manor Road, Staten Island, NY 10314. Register here.
  • Tuesday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m.: Turning Point, Transportation Alternatives, Trinity Lutheran Church, and Purpose are hosting a 38th Council District Candidate Forum. The event will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church located at 411 46th Street, Brooklyn. 
  • Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m.: The first official Democratic Candidates Mayoral Primary Debate will be held at Town Hall and aired on NY1 and WNYC.  Reservations can be made here
  • Wednesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m.: The New Kings Democrats and the Greenpoint Gazette are co-sponsoring City Council District 33 Candidate Debate.  City Council District 33 includes Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, and Gowanus.  The event will be held at the The Polish & Slavic Center located at 176 Java Street in Brooklyn.   • Thursday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m.: Second debate for Democratic Primary Comptroller candidates will be broadcast on CBS television, CBS news, and Newsradio 880 as well as a number of foreign language outlets.
