5 Proposals on Your Ballot this November

You’ll see five proposed questions on the ballot this fall, all developed by the New York City Commission on Government Efficiency (COGE), which Mayor Zohran Mamdani created in May and tasked with increasing efficiency in city government operations.

If passed, these proposals will amend the NYC Charter. They are:

  1. Speed Up Process for Granting a Revocable Consent to Use Public Space
  2. Reduce City Contractor Paperwork; Require Regular Meetings of the Procurement Policy Board
  3. Fast-track street safety infrastructure (such as bike lanes), the acquisition of office space, and the activation of city-owned land
  4. Simplify building permitting
  5. Establish a 12% rainy-day fund target to strengthen fiscal responsibility
